At the beginning of year 2002, Air Liquide finalized its purchase of all Messer’s operations in Egypt. With this acquisition, the group achieved an important objective: To establish a presence in one of the middle east's key countries. We supply oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and many other gases and services to most industries mainly steel, oil & gas, chemicals, glass, healthcare, food & beverages, others.
 
In Egypt, Air Liquide is starting up a new oxygen unit in Alexandria to supply the steel mill of EZZ, one of the region’s largest steel producers. This Air Separation Unitwill supplement the two existing units already in operation, bringing total installed capacity to 700 tones of oxygen per day. This investment is also based on a long-term supply agreement.
 
To supply its growing needs in Industrial Merchant in Egypt, Air Liquide has just commissioned an Air Separation Unit near Cairo with a production capacity of 140 tones per day of liquid oxygen and nitrogen.
 
An additional argon production facility with a capacity of 12 tones per day will also be commissioned in Alexandria to supply the welding gas and argon mixture industry in Egypt and in its neighboring countries.
